So…what’s this about?
The concept of capsule wardrobe means owning a small amount of clothes, basic pieces and generally items that can be easily mixed and matched with others. The radical capsule wardrobe has 10-15 items and I am pretty sure that’s possible for men, but since I’m a girl and I am addicted to my stuff, I believe around 30 items should cover it. There’s also this project, called The Project 333, where you’re supposed to reduce your stuff to 33 for 3 months.
Now, I am not trying the impossible, my closet is full and I regularly give stuff away, but I couldn’t help notice that my wardrobe is still average and quite limited. There are tons of things that haven’t worn in months and this can’t be efficient in any way. So I remembered this great tip I saw on TV saying that you should put all your coat hangers with the hook facing the back of the closet. After you wear something, you must put it back with the hook facing the opposite way. This way you will know what you don’t wear and you’re more likely to get rid of the stuff you don’t need.
I am planning on downsizing my wardrobe, because it’s cheaper and a lot of those things would be 10 times more useful to others than they are to me. Don’t be afraid to give up on clothes, you can always find others. This habit can teach you how not to get attached to material things and can also encourage you to try thrift stores
You can also organize an exchange of clothes with your girlfriends. I did one and I was really excited by what I got practically for free.
I tried to put up a capsule wardrobe that I think a girl would need. I made it by my taste, but you can perfectly replace stuff depending on your preferences. Tell me what you think
Do you want to try having a capsule wardrobe? Do you like these choices?
Basically this is what you should have:
- pair of jeans
- long pants
- jackets (one more serious, one more for going out)
- sweater (1 or 2)
- skirts (1 more serious, I love black pencil skirts, one more casual, one more unusual:)
- T-shirts (7 for every day of the week)
- blouses/chemises (whatever u wanna call them, the stuff that make you look girly and ladylike)
- dresses (one little black dress, one more funky for parties)
- scarf (one? although I’m too obsessed to have only one)
- hat/something like that
- sunglasses if needed
- some necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings (to me, these shouldn’t be part of the wardrobe, because it depends a lot on them how your outfits look; I guess as long as you limit each to 5, it’s okay)
- bags (one big bag to fit your house in it-for everyday use, one more cutesy for going out, maybe a posh one for parties)
- shoes (the most complicated part….so: one posh pair, preferably black heels to go with everything, one other pair of heels, different color, more playful, nice flats (not sneakers), pair of boots (I love suede lace-up short boots with a bit of a heel)

It would be easier to have a capsule wardrobe if you would live in a constant weather climate where you can have just 10 t-shirts and 5 pair of pants
Yep, that’s true, but you can always adjust it to different seasons.
Or maybe we should all just move to Brazil:P
